Tami Rose - founder

My Story is His Glory

TAMI ROSE is a cherished mother to two remarkable children, Kolten and Kalvree Perine. She shares a loving bond with her devoted husband, Ian Miller. Tami is a daughter, sister, twin, aunt, niece, friend, businesswoman, Christian artist, worship leader, and the founder of Thirsting For Hope. While she gained recognition for her singing alongside her mother, Annie Joyce Moulds-Hugger, and siblings - Richard, Juanita, Cammy, Tonya, and William - as part of The Hugger Family, performing in small churches across southern Mississippi, Tami Rose always felt a divine calling to use her voice as a source of healing and hope for those in need.

Born and raised in McLain, Mississippi as Tammy Hugger, she grew up in a large family immersed in gospel singing, musical talent, and preaching. Her father, Earl Hugger, (the eldest of 20 children born to the late Pastor Linwood Bolton, Sr. and Leola Bolton) founded The Gospel Soul Singers, now recognized as the Bolton Brothers (Quartet Hall of Fame). Surrounded by singing, worship, and the strong spiritual guidance of her grandfather, Pastor Linwood Bolton, Sr., Tami enjoyed a rich family heritage from both the Moulds and Bolton sides. Her mother ensured that family values were ingrained in all six of her children. Tami fondly recalls the cherished moments spent celebrating holiday dinners with her maternal grandparents, William and Willie Mae Moulds, traditions she and her siblings continue with their own children and grandchildren today.

At the tender age of nine, Tami committed her life to Jesus Christ, igniting a profound sense of purpose and a deep desire to live for Him. Despite the prohibition on secular music in her home, Tami developed a love for various musical genres by surreptitiously tuning in to radio stations and memorizing lyrics. While CeCe Winans, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Michael Jackson were among her favorite artists, gospel music remained her primary influence. Sunday mornings were especially joyous occasions in the Hugger household, filled with the aroma of her mother's cooking and the uplifting sounds of gospel music.

During her high school and college years, Tami's participation in pageants bolstered her self-esteem and public speaking skills, enabling her to overcome shyness and embrace her femininity and beauty. Encouraged by her mother's words of affirmation, Tami embarked on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

In the mid-1990s, Tami crossed paths with national recording artist David Huff during a recording session at Huff Recording Studios. This encounter led to opportunities for Tami to lend her vocals to recording sessions for David & The Giants, his solo projects, and various artists. Despite her deep love for recording, 1995 brought three devastating losses: the passing of her paternal grandmother, Leola Bolton, in January, her mother in March, and her great-grandmother, Lucille Hugger, in December. These losses deeply impacted Tami, as these matriarchs had profoundly shaped her identity, values, and character. While Tami continues to miss her mother daily, she remains grateful for the enduring love and legacy she left behind.

And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.
— Psalm 39:7

In 1992, Tami experienced a pivotal moment during her pregnancy with her first child. While in her fifth month, she was involved in a single-car accident. Miraculously, she emerged unscathed, crediting her survival to invoking the powerful name of Jesus and the prayers of an elderly couple who witnessed the ordeal. Their intercession left a lasting impression on Tami, underscoring the profound role of prayer in her life. Despite the near-tragedy, Tami gave birth to a healthy son, Kolten, later that year.

In 1997, Tami faced another trial during her pregnancy with her second child. At the five-month mark, doctors delivered a distressing prognosis, suggesting her unborn daughter might be born with severe medical complications. Despite the devastating news, Tami refused to consider abortion, steadfast in her belief in God's healing power. She embarked on a journey of faith, surrounded by a community of believers who fervently prayed for her and her unborn child. After two months of unwavering faith and intercession, doctors delivered a miraculous report: Tami's daughter was completely healed. In March 1998, Tami joyously welcomed her healthy baby girl, whom she named Kalvree Ta’Mar, signifying ‘a survivor.’ This experience inspired Tami's ministry of hope, which she later named "Thirsting For Hope."

In 2000, Tami relocated to Arlington, TX, where she became an active member of Tabernacle of Praise under the leadership of Bishop Gary Oliver. She found solace and purpose in serving in the choir and providing background vocals for Bishop Oliver's televised appearances. Despite facing subsequent trials, including divorce and personal loss, Tami's unwavering faith sustained her through life's challenges, shaping her into a woman of purpose.

In 2011, Tami founded Thirsting For Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hope and empowerment to individuals facing adversity. Through inspiring stories of survival, youth mentorship programs, and practical principles of living in hope, Tami seeks to uplift and encourage others on their journey. She launched her solo music career with the release of her album "My Hope is in You" in July 2015, followed by the establishment of Daughters Of Hope in 2016, a mentoring program for young women. Thirsting For Hope, Inc. obtained non-profit status in 2018, solidifying Tami's commitment to serving her community and spreading hope to all.
