Lucille Bolton was born the eighth child among twenty to Rev. and Mrs. Linwood Bolton, Sr. in McLain, Mississippi. Growing up, her family instilled a deep-rooted belief in the power of faith in God to navigate life's challenges. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1980, Lucille relocated to Texas, where she married Robert Shannon. Together, they raised two sons in Sherman, Texas. Lucille excelled as a wife, mother, and accomplished career woman, enjoying a seemingly worry-free life.

However, tragedy struck in 1995 when Lucille endured the loss of several significant women in her life, including her mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and aunt, to cancer. This period of profound grief marked the beginning of a journey that would forever alter Lucille's life.

In September 1997, at the age of 40, Lucille discovered a small lump on her right breast during a self-exam. Initially hesitant to address it, she continued with her busy schedule until the lump grew larger and painful. Following a biopsy in February 1998, Lucille received the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer. Enduring a mastectomy, she embarked on a challenging journey of recovery and acceptance, finding solace in her unwavering faith and the support of her family and church community.

Today, Lucille celebrates over 22 years of being cancer-free. She channels her experience into meaningful initiatives, founding support programs like Bosom Buddies and the Pink Pumpkin Awareness Project, which offer practical assistance to women battling breast cancer. Additionally, Lucille serves as a licensed minister, dedicating her time to proclaiming and preaching the word of God.
